Rick Tangeman, M.S.W.

I find it an ongoing privilege to be involved in the work individuals and couples choose to do in my office. I believe my role is to create a safe and collaborative environment that allows clients to look honestly at themselves and develop a plan for change that is based on each individual's strengths and wisdom about the healing and growth they are seeking in their lives.


Clinical Training
I hold a Masters in Social Work from Portland State University, since 1986. I also have ongoing advanced clinical training in IMAGO relationship therapy and am a certified IMAGO therapist. I also receive ongoing advanced training in couples/marital counseling, sex therapy, EMDR, individual therapy.


Professional Affiliations
I am a current member of the following associations:

  • National Association of Social Workers
  • American Mental Health Alliance – Oregon
  • Institute for Imago Relationship Therapy


Specialties
My specialties include couples/marital counseling, sexual problems (dysfunction, desire differences) sex addictions, as well as depression and anxiety disorders.


Hours
I am available for appointments the following days:

  • Monday
  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday
  • Friday
  • Early evening hours available on Tuesday and Wednesday

Please call for availability.


Fees
My fee for an individual is $100 and for couples is $110 per 50 minute session. I accept payment by cash, check, VISA or MasterCard.


Insurance
I do accept insurance and work with many insurance companies, however, if you intend to use insurance please contact them regarding mental health coverage of your policy. You will need to find out:

  1. Is pre-authorization required?
  2. Is the problem bringing you to therapy covered?
  3. Do they cover the services provided by Rick Tangeman, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
  4. How many sessions are allowed?
  5. What is your deductible and co-payment amounts (if applicable )
  6. Do they require treatment plans to be filed after a certain number of sessions?
